Style Christchurch: The Show
A fashion show marketed to the public is a very different beast to a show meant for the media's eyes only. Andhy Blake, the producer of Style Christchurch, seems to know the key ingredients to keep the crowd happy if the clapping and cheering was anything to go by at the event's annual show, held last Thursday night.
A beautiful location, models with a bit of attitude and up-beat music is exactly what Andhy delivered to keep the crowd interested. Style Christchurch lasted a huge two hours, but with performances from Ladi 6 breaking up the sections I didn't realise I had been sitting there for so long until my feet went numb due to extremely silly high heels.
Andhy's choice of models is what made this show for me: the girls were fantastic with their long, whispy hair. The boys on the other hand were so shy, with one of them bowing his head at the end of the catwalk, but somehow it worked in their favour, the women in the crowd LOVED their endearing charm!
Fashion-wise the show was in season and we saw everything from swimwear to knitted dresses from two local farmers. The mish-mash of styles worked and there was most definitely something for everybody, young and old. The accessories were my favourite part of the show, and Stich Ministry had me desperate for their thigh-high leather look socks. Teamed with black heels they looked like the most perfect fitting pair of thigh-high boots, but worn this way gave winter's biggest shoe trend an updated feel.
I can only see this show growing bigger and better in the following years and I hope Andhy takes his fashion formula to other cities in this country.
